Wind In Our Sails (Latest News From 1st Vision Baptist Mission)

Dear Pastors, Supporting Churches, Family and Friends,

Well after a long still spell we are on the road again. September saw us take our leave from our home church and set out sights on North Texas and Colorado. We enjoyed the cooler weather until it got downright cold but though the weather cooled off, the hospitality of the churches did not.
Kris and LeeOra We drove from the heat of Galveston to the cooler temps of Powderly, Tx., as far north as you can go and stay this side of Oklahoma. Pastor John Griswood and the Lakewood Baptist had a spot to park and a spot to preach. During Sunday School I shared our burden for Flagstaff and then enjoyed a good message from Bro. Griswood. We had an authentic Texas Home-style meal in the afternoon and then I preached that afternoon. (Always a challenge after a meal that good.)

On Monday we hooked up and set off to Colorado. We arrived at Heritage Baptist in Pueblo where Pastor Chuck Bigler and his wife Jan welcomed us to park out trailer outside the mission’s quarters. That Saturday we attended a hayride in Boone, Co with Pastor David Findley and Highland Baptist Church. Fellowship was sweet as well as songs and stories as we made a circuit through the maize and hay fields. The hotdogs and deserts were as good as the ride.

On Wednesday we visited at Mountain View Baptist Church where a good friend from college, Otis Medley is the pastor of this new and growing work. It was very encouraging to see the progress of the purchase of land and erection of a new building. We are praying that we will be able to do half as much in the same amount of time once we arrive in Flagstaff.

The following Sunday we presented our vision for a Baptist Church in Flagstaff, Az to the Highland Baptist Church. The presentation, message and a lesson that afternoon were received graciously by the church and a great dinner on the grounds was received graciously by LeeOra and I. (The church is so far out in the country, once you find it you better decide to stay all day.) Thanks to Bro. Finley and this wonderful group of folks.

Saturday we were once again fellow-shipping on the top of a flat bed trailer, this time with our host church Heritage Baptist. We enjoyed warm food and warm fellowship before the hayride. This was fortunate because it was cold once we mounted the trailer and took off, singing songs and playing harmonica. (They sang, I played.)

Finally, It was with great joy that we heard from both Bro. Griswood at Lakewood and Bro. Finley at Highland and were told that both churches have added us to their supported missionaries and would be partnering with us to see the vision of a new church fulfilled. Thank you both so much. Your encouragement of hospitality and now support has lifted our spirits and given us renewed strength for the rest of the deputation trail.

In His Service, - Kris and LeeOra Minefee
