Deputation News 06012008

We attended our final deputation church service this past Sunday. LeeOra and I celebrated Memorial Day with Leagueville Baptist Church and their pastor Tom Bragdon. Bro. Tom is a good friend and a man I admire for many reasons but mostly due to his friendship and sincerity of service to the Lord and his church. We shared the service with the Bragg family who did a great job on the music. Make sure if you get the chance to hear this talented family you do. We thoroughly enjoyed the music.

The service was dedicated to those who have given their life for our country and the music and my message "Fallen Hero" reflected the theme. Dinner was on the grounds or in this case in the gym and it was true "East Texas Country Cuisine." The food alone would have made the trip worth every mile.

That evening we traveled to Athens and attended church with Calvary Baptist Church and Pastor Mike Bragdon. The service was warm and the members made us feel welcome. I preached on "Christ's Blueprint for Prayer" and later we enjoyed pizza, ice cream and blue grass in the gym. I was allowed to play harmonica with the Heart and Hymns trio, that was a real joy and I played even longer than I preached and that's saying a lot.

Both churches are growing and examples of good men working with good people to serve God. It was a warm and wonderful Sunday, I pray that my new church will have the same spirit and same sense of purpose that these two great churched do.

It reminds you of the true joy of church service when you attend churches like this. There is an easygoing attitude, a true sense of fellowship and a love for God and His church. When it gets tough in the ministry it is Sundays like this that keep you serving.

Thank You again to Leagueville and Calvary Baptist Church you gave us much more than just a love offering.
